Matter Grid 1

TermDefinition
properties Things about matter that we can observe like size, shape, color, and texture
Solid Matter that has a definite shape and definite size. The atoms are packed closely together and vibrate a little.
Density A comparison of the amount of space matter in an object compared to the amount of space that it takes up.
Mass The amount of matter something contains (often measured in grams/ kilograms.
Liquid Matter that does not have a definite shape- takes the shaoe of the container, but does have a definite shape. The atoms are spread apart slightly, and move past each other easily.
Volume The amount of space that matter takes up.
Gas Matter that does not have a definite shape, and also does not have a definite size. The atoms are spread out and move very quickly and easily.
Chemical Properties A charactreistic of a substance that can only be seen when the substance changes and a NEW substance is formed.
Physical Properties Characteristics of a material or object that can be seen or measured WITHOUT changing the kind of matter. (Color, Texture, Shape, Size)
